A Standardized Approach to Better Golf
At Golf Fanatics, every private lesson follows a clear coaching framework. Different personalities. One consistent system designed to help you improve faster.
Our coaches teach through the same performance model. We focus on the fundamentals that control ball flight, combine technology with clear instruction, and give you a structured plan for improvement. No guesswork. No conflicting advice. Just a consistent pathway to better golf.
Each coach brings their own personality and communication style, but the teaching process remains the same. You will always leave a lesson understanding what happened, why it happened, and what to practice next.
Our Coaching Framework
- Technical and Data Guidance Lessons use video and launch monitor feedback to identify patterns and measure real improvement. You see exactly what the club and ball are doing — so changes become clear, objective, and repeatable.
- Athletic Movement and Body Awareness A great swing works with your body, not against it. We develop balance, coordination, and physical awareness alongside technical understanding so your movement becomes an asset, not a limiter.
- Mental Game and Consistency The most overlooked part of golf improvement isn’t your swing — it’s your head. We train focus, manage performance pressure, and build the mental habits that turn good practice into consistent on-course results. Consistency isn’t luck. It’s a skill, and we coach it.
- Confidence and Skill Development Learning happens best when you’re not white-knuckling it. Our coaching prioritizes clarity, encouragement, and visible progress so golfers stay motivated, build genuine confidence, and actually enjoy the process.
- Game Improvement and Scoring Skills Swing changes are only valuable if they lower your scores. Practice plans are built around skills that transfer to real rounds — because improvement that doesn’t show up on the course isn’t improvement.

Private Lesson FAQ
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are typically held in the West End of the Lower Deck (Stalls 127-132) on the Main Range or the South Academy. For location updates due to weather, contact your instructor or the pro shop at 403-640-3555.
What’s Toptracer Range?
Our academy uses Toptracer Range technology to enhance your learning experience. Every lesson series includes at least one session in a Toptracer stall, helping you master this game-changing tool.
What technology is used in lessons?
Each coach tailors lessons to their style and your needs. Check your instructor’s page for details. Technologies often used include TopTracer Range, OnForm Video Analysis, BodiTrak Pressure Mats, HackMotion Wrist Sensors, Foresight GC4, and SuperSpeed Golf.
How many lessons will I need?
Some players see quick changes in one session, but most golfers improve more effectively with a series of lessons that build skills step by step and reinforce lasting habits.
What should I bring to my lesson?
Bring your golf clubs, athletic clothing, and golf shoes if you have them. If you are new to the game, loaner clubs are available.
Do you provide practice drills or follow up after the lesson?
Yes. Most lessons include video feedback and clear practice drills through CoachNow so you know exactly what to work on between sessions.
Why take a lesson instead of watching YouTube or practicing alone?
Online tips are general advice. Your swing is specific. In a lesson we identify the real cause of your ball flight and build a plan around your swing so you practice with purpose and improve faster.
How quickly will I see improvement?
Many golfers notice better contact, ball flight, or understanding of their swing during the first lesson. The biggest improvements come when lessons are combined with consistent practice and a clear plan.
Should I book a single lesson or a package?
A single lesson can give you useful direction. Most golfers improve more with a series of lessons where we track progress, build skills in stages, and keep you accountable to a plan.
Do I need to be a good golfer to take lessons?
No. Many of our students are complete beginners. Our coaches work with golfers at every level and will meet you exactly where you are in your golf journey.
Which coach should I choose?
Each coach brings a different teaching style and specialty. Speak to Todd Halpen todd@golffanatics.ca to help select the best fit.
Do you use technology during lessons?
Yes. Our entire coaching team uses CoachNow to deliver videos, notes, and practice plans after lessons. Todd Halpen and Greg Johnson also use advanced tools including Foresight GCQuad launch monitors, Boditrak pressure mats, Smart2Move force plates, HackMotion wrist sensors, and SuperSpeed Golf training systems.
Do you provide practice drills or follow up after the lesson?
Yes. Most lessons include video feedback and clear practice drills through CoachNow so you know exactly what to work on between sessions.
Can lessons help me lower my scores?
Yes. While improving your swing is important, our coaches also focus on practice habits, course strategy, and short game skills, which are often the fastest ways to lower scores.
Are lessons available for juniors?
Yes. Junior development is a major focus of the Golf Fanatics Academy. We offer private coaching and structured junior programs designed to help young golfers learn the game while having fun and building skills for the course.
Do you offer lessons for ladies?
Yes. We offer private coaching, ladies clinics, and beginner friendly programs designed to create a comfortable and supportive environment for learning the game. Check out www.golfandtacos.com for our specialized Ladies options.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Lessons can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice. Late cancellations or missed lessons may be charged the full lesson fee.
I’m nervous about taking my first lesson. Is that normal?
Yes. Many golfers feel nervous before their first lesson, especially beginners. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where you can learn comfortably, ask questions, and enjoy improving your game.
Can I do a semi-private lesson with my junior?
We keep junior and adult lessons separate — and there’s a real reason for it. When a parent is in the lesson, kids shift from learning mode to performance mode. They’re focused on you, not the task. Parental presence during instruction increases performance anxiety, introduces competing coaching voices, and reduces a child’s willingness to experiment. All of that slows development.
Think hockey, soccer, swimming — parents don’t practice with their kids. The learning space belongs to the athlete. Your role is on the course: playing together and letting them show you what they’ve been building.
